What Is The SASSA SRD R370 Grant?
The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is a monthly payment of R370 from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to unemployed South Africans aged 18–60 who have no other source of income.

Who Qualifies?
You qualify for the SASSA R370 grant if you meet ALL of these requirements:
- South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
- Between 18 and 60 years old
- Currently unemployed
- Not receiving any other social grant
- Not receiving UIF payments
- Not receiving any income from a job or business
- Not a student receiving NSFAS funding
- Have a valid South African ID number
- Have a working cellphone number
How To Apply (Step By Step)
Go to the SASSA SRD website
Open your phone browser and go to srd.sassa.gov.za. This is the only official site. Do not use any other website.
Enter your ID number
Type your 13-digit South African ID number carefully. Make sure every digit is correct.
Enter your cellphone number
Use a number that belongs to you. SASSA will send a one-time pin (OTP) to this number.
Enter the OTP
Check your phone for an SMS from SASSA. Enter the code on the website to verify your identity.
Fill in your personal details
Enter your full name, surname, and date of birth exactly as they appear on your ID document.
Add banking details (optional)
You can add your bank account for direct payment. If you don't have a bank account SASSA will pay via Post Office or cash send.
Submit your application
Review everything and submit. You will receive a confirmation SMS. Save this SMS as proof.

- Go to srd.sassa.gov.za
- Click "Check Status"
- Enter your ID number
- Enter your phone number
- Enter the OTP sent to your phone
- Your status will display
Status Meanings
