Requirements
- South African citizen
- Valid Smart ID card or green ID book
- Original birth certificate
- Payment (cash, card, or EFT depending on office)
How To Apply

Book an appointment
Go to ehomeaffairs.dha.gov.za and book an appointment at your nearest Home Affairs office.
2
Visit Home Affairs on your appointment date
Bring your ID, birth certificate, and payment. Arrive 15 minutes early.

Complete the application form
Fill in the BI-73 passport application form at the office.

Photo and fingerprints taken
Your photo and fingerprints will be captured at the office.

Pay the fee
Pay R400 (standard) or R600 (urgent).
6
Collect your passport
You'll receive an SMS when ready. Collect at the same office with your receipt and ID.
For Children Under 16
- Both parents must consent (or a court order if one parent is absent)
- Child's original birth certificate
- Both parents' IDs
- Child must be present
